This event is part of the Academy’s national series to improve understanding of the nation’s social insurance programs and how they are addressing – and could better address – the challenges posed by growing inequality. Social insurance has been an integral part of American life for more than 80 years, and arguably, will play an even bigger role as the population ages and automation, global competition, rising inequality, and other developments continue to transform the economy and create new risks for workers and their families. This will be a unique gathering and exchange of ideas among leading policy experts, business executives, and local community leaders concerned about these issues.
