Planned or legacy giving is a wise investment for securing an organization’s future. Legacy gifts enable the Academy to:

  • Respond more quickly to challenges facing the nation during extraordinary periods, like the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Plan long-term for strategic initiatives and invest in critical tools like website design (including adding the latest technologies for accessibility) and virtual meeting tools.
  • Sustain and build upon our efforts to inform and educate key stakeholders and audiences about the importance of social insurance to America’s economic and societal well-being.

There are many ways to leave a legacy through a planned gift. It can be done through a bequest, life insurance policy, retirement plan, charitable trust, real estate, or any combination of these. A legacy gift can even be designed to obtain current income and estate tax advantages. It can also provide income to you or your loved ones for life. Although many complex options are available, there are simple options easily created through estate planning vehicles.

Sample legacy gift language:

“I [name], of [city, state ZIP], do hereby bequest the sum of $ ____________ or ___________ percent of my estate to the National Academy of Social Insurance, a charitable organization incorporated in the District of Columbia, with a current business address of 1441 L Street NW, Suite 530, Washington, DC, 20005 and a tax identification number of 52-1234565, for its unrestricted use and purpose.”

(Note: The above is a sample only. Please consult your estate planning advisor.)
